SodaStream Celebrates One Millionth Swedish Soda Maker Sold

31 January, 2011

AIRPORT CITY, Israel – January 31, 2011 – SodaStream International, Ltd. (NASDAQ: SODA), a leading manufacturer and distributor of home soda makers, today announced that it has sold over 1,000,000 soda makers in Sweden, a country of approximately 4.5 million homes.

AIRPORT CITY, Israel – SodaStream International, Ltd. (NASDAQ: SODA), a leading manufacturer and distributor of home soda makers, today announced that it has sold over 1,000,000 soda makers in Sweden, a country of approximately 4.5 million homes.

“We are excited to have reached this strong level of household penetration in our country,” said Per Bjorkman, CEO of Empire AB, SodaStream’s exclusive distributor in The Nordics. “We still have a few million more homes to reach before we will truly be satisfied with our efforts, and we look forward to meeting customer number two million in the future.”

“We are proud to announce this milestone event,” stated Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream. “In Sweden, SodaStream is used regularly in more than one out of five homes, demonstrating that we have joined the ranks of mainstream consumer products. Our benefits of convenience, value, health and a cleaner environment are driving a beverage revolution as consumers recognize that SodaStream is the smart way to enjoy soda.”

Sweden’s “Quest for the Millionth Machine” campaign was promoted via TV, digital, and print advertising. Soda maker number one million was purchased during this past holiday season, and the winner was Per Nilsson, who bought a SodaStream Pure model at a Media Markt store in Vasteras. In a ceremony conducted at the store, Mr. Nilsson received a new Smart Pure micro-car as his prize. Smart is an environmentally conscious automobile company, producing eco-friendly, less-polluting vehicles.

Mr. Birnbaum concluded: “Sweden is a market similar to the US and the UK, where people drink more soda than sparkling water, and where we continue to gain market share. Our success there demonstrates that consumers will gladly stop doing soda the old way, and embrace SodaStream as a better alternative.”
